A Home Away From Home.

Situated on a high promontory, Big/Little Flower is brand new, kept spotlessly clean. It includes all the modern facilities as well as a private garden. From this vantage point there is an unforgettable view of verdant hills, forming a sort of amphitheater. Far below is Adamstown and an ocean that stretches to eternity ! On clear nights, the Milky Way stands out on a dark palette.

Heather and Kerry were my most gracious hosts. Every evening I was treated to a veritable feast. On their day off, I was given a tour of the remote places on their all terain vehicle. As it's a small island, most sites are an easy, pleasant stroll.

Some highlights of Pitcairn: A) The climb to Christian’s cave with its wonderful view across Adams Town, The ocean's hues of blue / turquoise with the sun's rays gleaming toward the horizon and St. Paul’s natural pool at the eastern tip of Pitcairn where the ocean crashes through with fearful ferocity. I arrived as a guest but departed as a friend.

Above Adamstown, Under the Stars

A visit to Pitcairn had been on my radar for many years and when it finally came to fruition I chose Big Flower for my homestay. I could not have made a better choice. It truly felt like a home away from home. From the moment I stepped ashore at The Ship’s Landing until my departure nine days later, I experienced exceptional hospitality. Heather and Kerry were gracious hosts who generously shared insights into life on this history rich island.

Big Flower is a beautiful and comfortable home with sweeping views of the South Pacific and Christian’s Cave, perfectly positioned above Adamstown. As Pitcairn is a designated Dark Sky Sanctuary, it is also an ideal place to view the southern constellations.

Kerry guided me on island hikes that covered all my must see highlights, while Heather ensured I was always well fed with delicious, hearty meals. Harvesting fresh fruit while exploring and enjoying produce from their garden never failed to impress this northerner.

I absolutely recommend a stay at Big Flower or Little Flower to anyone considering a trip to Pitcairn. Heather and Kerry will make your stay memorable in every way.

One of Our Treasured Travel Memories

My wife and I had a truly magical stay with Heather and Kerry at Little Flower. The accommodation was outstanding and located in a truly breathtaking position.

Heather’s cooking was wonderful and spending time with them gave us a fascinating and thoughtful insight into island life.

They were both magnanimous with their time and could not do enough for us to ensure our short time in Pitcairn was a unique experience.

Thanks to Kerry and Heather our trip to Pitcairn has become one of our most treasured travel memories, our time with them was genuinely a highlight of the last few busy years travelling.

Well Worth the Journey

I traveled all the way from Kuwait to the remote shores of Pitcairn Island on September 2nd, 2025, arriving after a fascinating two-day journey. Waiting for me at the dock were Kerry and Heather, whose warmth immediately made the long trip worthwhile.

Heather, my initial point of contact, was wonderfully responsive and attentive to every detail, and her cooking is truly exceptional; each meal thoughtfully prepared and warmly shared. Kerry's knowledge of the island and genuine enthusiasm enriched my stay in ways no guidebook ever could.

Little Flower is, in my view, the best and most modern accommodation on the island and having Heather and Kerry as hosts is the cherry on top. It's well worth adjusting your travel dates to stay here.

A Beautiful Collision of Worlds

We were fortunate to be hosted by Heather and Kerry at the lovely Big Flower and Little Flower property as part of our honeymoon. I have always been drawn to places off the beaten path and since we were already relatively nearby in Tahiti we decided to make the voyage to one of the most isolated and special places in the world, Pitcairn Island.

Every part of the journey felt like an adventure, traveling on the Silver Supporter, transferring by longboat to the island and exploring Pitcairn on our own or by ATV with our hosts. Discovering the island’s landscapes, sights and fruits of the jungle at our own pace was unforgettable.

What truly made the experience special was the warmth and comfort Heather and Kerry provided. Little Flower was cozy, thoughtfully updated and perfectly positioned with beautiful ocean views. It offered privacy to rest after each day’s exploring while keeping our hosts just steps away at Big Flower.

Our evenings were the highlight, sharing dinners and easy conversation, learning about Pitcairn’s history and culture and connecting across perspectives from opposite sides of the globe. We even cooked some of our favorite hand pulled dishes together on Pitcairn Island, a genuine collision of worlds.

Their kindness made us feel less like visitors and more like family. Pitcairn is not easy to reach but our time at Little Flower and Big Flower made the journey completely worthwhile. It is an experience we will always treasure and hope to return to one day.

I Chose Very Well

Getting to Pitcairn and Pitcairn itself, is definitely adventure country. Some of the residents have found the most scenic spots to build their homes. I stayed in my own delightful little studio unit, which had been recommended to me as the nicest on the island, with panoramic views above Adamstown. It was called Little Flower

Next door was Big Flower, the home of my hosts, Kerry Young and Heather Menzies, both Pitcairn descendants. Kerry had also lived on Norfolk and the links and toing and froing between the two islands is fascinating. Kerry deals with official finances in the Government Treasury and Heather lead Pitcairn Tourism, coordinating travel and homestay reservations visitors. She has recently retired..My hosts were extraordinarily hospitable. I chose very well.
