Complimentary Island Tours

One of the experiences guests most frequently comment on at The Flowers is the opportunity to explore Pitcairn Island through our complimentary guided walking and vehicle tours with local hosts Heather and Kerry.

Whether visiting the Adamstown village, Tedside (to the west), St Paul’s Pool (to the east), Christian’s Cave, Gannet’s Ridge, The God or Down Rope, our tours provide a relaxed, personal and authentic introduction to Pitcairn’s landscapes, history, stories and everyday island life.

Guests often tell us that the tours become one of the highlights of their stay, offering insights, scenery and local knowledge that go well beyond a guidebook.

“Kerry’s knowledge of the island and genuine enthusiasm enriched my stay in ways no guidebook ever could.”

Adamstown Village

Experience the world’s smallest capital city through local stories, community history, heritage sites and contemporary island life.

Gannet’s Ridge

Experience sweeping views across cliffs, ridges and coastline in one of Pitcairn’s most striking landscapes.

The God

An intriguing and historically significant location associated with Pitcairn’s ancient Polynesian past. The God offers visitors the opportunity to view ancient petroglyphs and gain deeper insight into the island’s pre‑Bounty history and early Polynesian settlement. Exploring this area helps reveal another layer of Pitcairn’s story, extending well beyond the Bounty narrative to the island’s much older Polynesian heritage.

Christian’s Cave

A memorable walk along the short eco-trail and up to the cave connected with Fletcher Christian and Pitcairn’s early settlement history, rewarded with impressive island and ocean views.

Down Rope

A distinctive and challenging coastal location associated with Pitcairn’s only beach. This walk entails a steep cliff descent to the coast, where you can experience dramatic terrain and ancient Polynesian petroglyphs. Only accessible with a local guide and not suitable for those uncomfortable with steep terrain and heights.

“Kerry guided me on island hikes that covered all my must-see highlights.”

Tedside

One of Pitcairn’s most scenic western locations offering expansive ocean views, rugged coastline, rock fishing access, history and seasonal whale spotting opportunities.

Explore Pitcairn by Foot

Walking is one of the best ways to experience Pitcairn Island and our walks are flexible and personalised to guests’ interests, pace and mobility. We can also drop you at any of your preferred destinations and you can wander back to The Flowers at your leisure.

What to Bring for Guided Tours

Pitcairn’s roads, tracks and walking routes vary considerably in terrain, gradient and surface conditions. For most guided walking tours we recommend bringing good walking shoes or comfortable hiking shoes with reliable grip, together with lightweight comfortable clothing suitable for walking.

A light wind or rain jacket is also a good idea, particularly as conditions can change quickly. It gets hot on Pitcairn so be sure to bring a hat, sunscreen, water bottle and swimmers or towel for locations such as St Paul’s Pool, conditions permitting.

Some tours involve uneven ground, rocky surfaces, mud after rain, steeper terrain or exposed coastal conditions. Certain locations, including Down Rope and parts of Christian’s Cave, are physically demanding and require suitable footwear, reasonable mobility and confidence on steeper terrain. Both destinations are best undertaken with guided support.

We are always happy to discuss tour suitability, conditions and recommended options with guests.

Guided Vehicle Tours

For guests wishing to explore more widely, or preferring a less walking-focused option, a guided tour in our Canam all terrain vehicle provides an excellent island orientation and comfortable access to viewpoints, historic locations, scenic routes and places that help tell the story of Pitcairn’s people, heritage and environment.

“Thanks to Kerry and Heather our trip to Pitcairn has become one of our most treasured travel memories.”
